The new home of Wonder Pop's Wonder News!

I have some new pictures (including some good ones from Adam!) and other contributions that I have to put in a hold bin for a month because I am out of storage space.  It's making it extrememly difficult to update the site each month but I plan to have that problem resolved pretty soon.  The May-June 2007 page has been renamed "Game Links" because I'd like to keep those games--especially if any of you are addicted to some of them like me!  I'd also like to put something up here that I got in my email because I think it's pretty damn good.  It's been attributed to Paul Harvey but I'll leave that to you to verify:

I hope.....

We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse.
For my grandchildren, I'd like better.

I'd really like for them to know about hand-me-down clothes and homemade
ice cream and leftover meatloaf sandwiches.

I really would.

I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and that you learn honesty
by being cheated.

I hope you learn to make your own bed and mow the lawn and wash the car.

And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen.

It will be good if at least one time you can see puppies being born and your
old dog put to sleep.

I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in.

I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother or
sister, and it's alright if you have to draw a line down the middle
of the room...but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because
he's scared, I hope you let him.

When you want to see a movie and your little brother or sister wants to tag along, I hope you let them.

I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live in a town
where it's safe to do that.

On rainy days when you have to catch a ride, I hope you don't ask your driver to
drop you two blocks away so that you won't be seen riding with someone as "uncool" as
your mom.

If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you how to make one
instead of buying one.

I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and to read books.

When you learn to use computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract in your head.

I hope you get teased by your friends when you have your first crush.

When you talk back to your mother, I hope that you learn what Ivory soap tastes like.

May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove, and stick
your tongue on a frozen flagpole.

I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you don't like it.  And if a friend offers you drugs, I hope
you realize that he is not your friend.

I sure hope you make time to site ona porch with your Grandma and Grandpa, and go fishing with
your Uncle.

May you feel sorrow at a funeral, and joy during the holidays.

I hope your mother punishes you when you hit a baseball through your neighbor's
window, and that she hugs you and kisses you at Christmas time when you give her a
plaster mold of your hand.

These things I wish for you--tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness.  It's the only
way to appreciate life.

If you have any "I hope"s you'd like to add, email them to me.  I'd love to put them in the list!
Here's to a great August.  I am anxiously awaiting Autumn.

I want to say Happy Birthday to Taliesin, Elizabeth, Pat, and Mark....and wish Happy
Anniversary to Frank III and Leslie, and Bill and Sue.  :D

May and June are getting smooshed together because of extenuating circumstances.  There have been additions to Quotables, Neat-o Links, and Lookie, and there's lots of fun stuff on this month's page.  Just click the MAY - JUNE 2007 link above.  Hope everything's warming up for you guys now that winter's made its exit.

Here's a new photo submission by website author Uncle John "WonderPop!"

"My wife Pat took a pix of me with my cell phone last month when we were in Cancun.  I am wearing Dad's shirt.  His favorite shirt for many years and now I have it and am wearing it proudly!"
